Everyone has that one unappealing chore that they would rather avoid. For some accounting professionals, that ‘chore’ is time-consuming or complicated compliance work.
That’s why compliance platform QuickBooks Tax powered by LodgeiT was developed – to save accountants and tax agents both time and headaches.
“Intuit, with its QuickBooks accounting software, understands that if you want to be in this space and deal with accountants and tax agents, you have to give them a set of tools to make their lives easier,” says Andrew Noble, LodgeiT founder and a director of Perth accounting firm Noble & Associates.
The key, says Noble, has been to develop a compliance platform that can seamlessly integrate with various types of accounting software, regardless of the different protocols for data categorisation and organisation.
“The functional benefit of QuickBooks Tax powered by LodgeiT is that it makes it easy to transform that information and allow a tax agent to submit it to a regulator,” he says.
“That information is going to roll in from a business accounting software such as QuickBooks, and you want to be able to easily wrap that information into a format that’s suitable for the regulator, which is something that QuickBooks Tax powered by LodgeiT does very well.
“It’s about automating that workflow as much as possible so that the accountant or tax agent has minimal button pushing to do.”
The phrase “minimal button pushing” is surely music to anyone’s ears.
Support that’s easy to access
The platform has a user-friendly interface, but support is available for those that need a helping hand.
“We provide in-app support, which is like a messaging service,” says Noble.
“Tax can get pretty complex, so our support team can assist with that, or if there’s a technical issue.
“If it’s a usability issue that will be difficult to communicate through a messaging system, we’ll set up an online video meeting where we can share screens and advise how to fix the issue.”
More time for more valuable work
Noble underlines that making the lives of tax agents and accountants easier has been a primary focus in the platform’s development.
“For us, it’s about how do we streamline and automate as much of that grind work that tax agents have to go through for the compliance life cycle?” he says.

“Our main aim has been to take away some of that cognitive overload on the accountant and to just let them know they can rely on the toolkit.
“That also gives them more time to spend on business development and value adds; if you’re a small business accountant and you have to spend all of your time moving and transposing data, you’re not going to have a lot of time to go and find new clients – or to help your business clients find ways to grow their businesses,” Noble says.
“Our goal is to provide them with the tools to reach that objective.”
