In 1939, Kurt Lewin, a German-American psychologist, identified three leadership styles we still refer to today – autocratic, democratic and laissez-faire leaders. Today, most assessments include a fourth: a transformational leader.
It can be useful to know what your leadership style is and the questions below are designed to help. However, you should bear in mind that good leaders will often draw on all four leadership styles, as they respond to different challenges.
