CA ANZ is seeking two suitably qualified candidates from within its membership, resident in Australia, to join the CA ANZ board in or around July 2026.
The board currently comprises eight member directors and two non-member directors with a broad range of experience across academia, corporations (listed and unlisted), professional services firms, the public sector, and not-for-profit and member organisations. The CA ANZ Nominations and Governance Committee is currently seeking members with the following experience, skills and competencies as potential candidates for appointment to the board.
Essential CA ANZ director requirements
Candidates must demonstrate experience in a number of the following required skills:
- A strong understanding and commitment to the principles of corporate governance, along with a sound understanding of a director’s legal duties and responsibilities
- Experience as a CEO or C-suite executive in leading a large listed or unlisted corporate group (or a significant division within that entity, ideally with a national or international footprint), including strong commercial and strategic acumen and a proven record of strategic foresight, judgement and decision making at an executive level, OR
- Significant experience as a chair, CEO or senior partner/principal of a small or mid-tier practice, with a deep understanding of the challenges, responsibilities and requirements to establish, manage and expand a practice, as well as a proven track record of practice growth and innovation and the development of strong business and commercial networks
- Recognition and understanding of future trends and emerging opportunities, market dynamics and socio-economic changes, including their potential impact on the profession and CA ANZ’s current and future members, with particular consideration of the impact on members in small and mid-tier practices, for candidates with relevant experience
- An understanding of the issues/challenges of running a large organisation, including with regard to talent acquisition and retention and understanding (and supporting the development of) the future skills of CA ANZ members
- A track record of leadership in one or more digitally advanced, ESG focused, client-centric or customer-centric businesses, with insights into digital disruption, the use of AI, data analysis and sustainability
- The ability to contribute to an effective board culture, including diversity of thinking, common sense and sound judgement, integrity and the highest ethical standards, and the ability to effect change through influence
- An international perspective and/or a strong understanding of the strategic priorities of a business with global operations in diverse, competitive and disruptive markets
- Experience regarding talent management and developing an innovative workplace which focuses on workplace flexibility and employee wellbeing
- Strong lateral and strategic thinking abilities, and the ability to identify issues and challenge management without becoming involved in operational details or process.
Other desirable experience/personal skills
- Previous or current board experience as a committee chair or board chair
- Thought leadership in relation to emerging Australian, New Zealand and/or global trends impacting the accounting profession
- Digital skills/experience, including relating to digital transformation and delivery, data analytics, cybersecurity, AI and machine learning, and digital literacy
- Experience with membership-based bodies at a senior executive, committee chair or board level
- Experience as a director, governance body member or senior executive of a higher education provider
- Ability to promote the profession and the CA designation at a national or international level, including acting as an ambassador/proponent for CA ANZ.

Appointments to the board are approved by the CA ANZ Council. As a voluntary adopter of the ASX Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations, CA ANZ aims to ensure the board is structured to be effective and add value, to reflect the broader membership composition and to achieve a balance of experience, skills and tenure among its directors.
