Sort your life insurance from home (easily)

During COVID-19, protecting your loved ones financially is a simple task to do from home. Brought to you by Pinnacle Life.

Pinnacle Life has offered online life insurance since 2007, so we’ve had plenty of time to iron out the wrinkles and to make it as simple and easy as possible.

When Pinnacle Life first started in 1998, the only way to get life insurance was to call an insurance broker. We were the first to offer 'direct' cover, but direct in 1998 was different from buying direct today. It involved TV ads, radio ads, an 0800 number and a fax machine. That all sounds archaic now. Living in lockdown with COVID-19 would be very different without the technological change that we’ve become used to since then.

Research shows customers who buy direct from an insurance company are more satisfied

A survey by Consumer NZ in 2019 indicated that you're much less likely to be a satisfied customer if you buy insurance from a bank or an insurance broker, compared with consumers who buy direct from an insurance company.

If you haven’t bought life insurance before, buying online can seem scary. That's why we have lots of information on our website to help you out. There are tools and calculators to help you work out what you need as well as links on other helpful sites such as or You can also always phone us if something needs more explanation.

What about COVID-19? Would I be covered?

If you’re wondering whether life insurance with Pinnacle Life will cover COVID-19 the short answer is ‘yes’. There is nothing excluding COVID-19 from our policies so once you have cover, if you get COVID-19 and the worst happens, you'll be covered.

If you don’t have cover already and you apply, you just need to make sure you answer all the application questions truthfully, just like at any other time. For example, our underwriting questions currently include:

“Have you ever been diagnosed with a breathing or lung problem including asthma, emphysema, chronic obstructive airways disease, TB, cystic fibrosis or sleep apnoea?”

“Aside from what you've already told us, do you have any other medical condition for which you’re currently seeking medical advice, receiving treatment, awaiting surgery or undergoing tests?”

If you have flu-like symptoms, this is where you should let us know on your application. Otherwise this may result in us being unable to pay any claim you make in the future. If you want more information about life insurance cover and COVID-19, please check out our COVID-19 FAQs on our website.
