New cover for life
An accessible new life insurance product offers more benefits and support to Kiwis when they need it most. Brought to you by Pinnacle Life.
Life insurance is a valuable purchase that can seem easy to defer. It can be hard to work out the cover you need for a future problem and few of us like to think about the instances where we’d need to use it. But when life insurance comes with extra benefits, why put it off for tomorrow?
Pinnacle Life recently launched a new flagship life insurance product that’s designed to offer Kiwis more benefits, while remaining affordable and accessible.
“By looking at what is offered in the life insurance market both in New Zealand and globally, and by digging into who our customers are and what’s important to them, we came up with a series of additional benefits that complement our core life insurance offering,” says Jane Barron, general manager marketing and digital at Pinnacle Life.
Extra benefits for life
Pinnacle Life’s new flagship life insurance product offers a range of extra benefits, including financial planning and counselling support at claim time.
“If a family has lost a loved one and they receive a lump sum through their life insurance, this extra benefit helps them to work out how to manage it,” says Barron. “Or, if you have kids or extended family who are struggling with grief, this benefit can also provide support for that.”
Other extra benefits include early payment for the life insurer’s funeral.
“We’ve added this benefit so that as soon as a claim has been received, we can pay out a lump sum to help cover funeral or tangi costs, so you’re not having to incur debt while you wait for the full life insurance claim to be processed.”
Pinnacle’s new life insurance product also provides early payment for funeral costs in the unthinkable event that your child passes away.
“There’s little anyone could do to ease that pain, but this is one way we can help during such a difficult time,” says Barron.
Along with these extra benefits, the new life insurance product includes some new special events, where you can boost your amount of cover without needing to provide any updated health information.
“This includes events like getting married or divorced, taking on full-time study or full-time care of someone, or if you have a child or partner who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness,” says Barron.
Evolving with the times
Pinnacle Life has also refined its optional critical conditions cover to cover more conditions and include updated definitions for conditions such as cancer, heart attack, stroke and bypass surgery.
“Medical knowledge and research are changing all the time,” says Barron. “We want to make sure that we are referencing the latest terminology and research, and have updated our definitions which will automatically be passed on to existing policy holders.”
Pinnacle Life has also responded to customer feedback by offering broader protection, with coverage for 16 additional medical conditions, including dementia, major head trauma, rheumatoid arthritis and more.
“We want to ensure that our products are flexible, provide value and are accessible from an affordability perspective, and also from an information perspective,” says Barron. “We write everything in plain English as much as possible.”
